This article examines the consequences of colonization in Aotearoa by referring to Māori concepts and practices of relational health and well-being, and the links between whenua (land), health and well-being. The authors discuss the legacy of colonization on Māori communities, track some general indicators of relational health and well-being in Aotearoa, and examine how the Māori relational concept of whenua as a determinant of health and wellness could lead to better health outcomes.
