Link to the Land and Mino-Pimatisiwin (Comprehensive Health) of Indigenous People Living in Urban Areas of Eastern Canada

2019

Landry, V., Asselin, H., & Lévesque, C.

Description

As connection to the land is a key element of mino-pimatisiwin, the authors demonstrate that urban Indigenous people develop particular ways to maintain this link, notably by embracing broader views of 'land' and 'community'. The authors argue that culturally safe places are needed in urban areas to contribute to safeguarding urban Indigenous people's identity and well-being.
