This paper reports findings from a study that sought to better understand Inuit perceptions of contaminants, their related environmental knowledge, and resulting effects on patterns of harvesting and consumption of country food, as well as contribute to the growing cross-cultural discourse betwen western science and traditional knowledge. This qualitative study assessed the perceptions of Inuit community members of Salluit, Nunavik about changes in their food chain resulting from contaminants and their ability to distinguish what was edible.
